These competitions highlight athletes with disabilities, showcasing their incredible determination and skill.
David’s journey into professional sports began
after a life-changing motorcycle accident more than 20 years ago.
He trained daily while raising his two children.
Reflecting on his path, he says,
“I always took it well, mainly for my loved ones.
It was especially hard for my parents to accept
that I would spend my life in a wheelchair.
But I regret nothing. I love my life. Life is beautiful.”
Financial challenges were part of his reality.
“To have money, you have to show yourself,”
he admits with a shy smile.
And I’m not like that. I am rather reserved.
Besides, it’s not a media sport.
We talk about it before the Olympics, but the rest of the time, there is nobody, only our motivation. We are alone against all.”
David Franek has also been playing basketball for 17 years. “It’s pretty good for the handbike season.” His team, Corbeil-Essonnes, consistently competes in Nationale 1B playoffs, where they are currently in the lead.
David Franek’s story is a testament
to resilience, determination, and the power of a positive outlook.
Despite the hurdles,
he continues to inspire with his unwavering spirit
and dedication to his sport and family.
David Franek is no longer with us,
but his memory will always live on.
